Superman is an iconic superhero. You may think you everything about Clark Kent, the world famous hero called Superman, but you might not. We have ten things that you might know about the Last Son of Krypton.
1. Clark Kent and Superman have been in photos together.
Usually the superhero and regular man aren’t seen together; however, Superman and Clark Kent are an exception. Superman has friends with the ability to shape shift into Clark Kent. The two have even been photographed together. The public thinks the two guys are friends that just look a lot alike.
2. Superman Has Different Attributes Than Clark
Many people think Clark Kent just needs to change his outfit and glasses to become a superhero. It’s actually much more than that. He actually changes his voice and the lenses of his glasses that change the shade of his eyes. Superman even has different body language than Clark.
3. Superman has had different catchphrases.
Superman wasn’t always about “the American way.” He was originally all about “truth and justice,” and “champion of the oppressed.” He fought for the American Way starting in about the 1940s during radio broadcasts. The “American Way” didn’t stick until the 1950s when the TV series became a big hit.
4. The “S” isn’t just for Superman.
The “S” on Superman’s shirt isn’t just for his name. It’s not just hit family crest even. It’s actually a Kryptonian symbol that means “hope.” If you draw his shield upside down, the meaning completely changes to “resurrection.”
5. Even superheroes need safeguards.
Clark Kent has worn glasses since he was in high school. His powers were coming in hot at that time. This meant he didn’t know how to control them. His mother noticed his heat vision didn’t burn through the rocket when traveling to Earth. She took some glass pieces from the rocket’s windows and placed them in his frames. This way if his heat vision even got out of control when he got excited, the glasses could protect him.
6. Lois Lane isn’t his only girl.
Lois Lane is Superman’s wife, but she wasn’t the first girl to win his heart. He dated his best friend, Lana Lang in high school. She even knew about his powers. He also had a crush on Saturn Girl, and in college dated a mermaid named Lori. He also famously had a crush on Wonder Woman for a while.
7. Superman can travel through time.
Clark Kent was visited by the Legion of Super-Heroes in high school. These supernatural heroes were from the 30th century. They noticed he wanted to hang out with more people that were just like him so they let him travel to their time. When he returned back to his planet, he couldn’t remember his time there so he couldn’t switch his future plans. These trips to the future helped Superman learn the great things about his powers, and push forward to help people.
8. Superman is affected by more than kryptonite.
This superhero isn’t only affected by kryptonite. Superman draws his power from powerful sunshine. If he stands in the light of the red sun like the one on his planet, he does not have powers. The magic on Krypton can disprupt his force-field. This means the “bad guys” can draw blood if they get close enough to him.
9. Batman and Superman are business partners in a way.
Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne are intertwined in many ways. Batman actually owns the building where Clark and Lois live. He gave them the apartment as a wedding gift. Wayne Enterprises, owned by Bruce Wayne, bought the Daily Planet newspaper where the couple both work.
10. Superman didn’t always have so many powers.
Superman first appeared in comics in 1938. At that time he was strong and could leap almost a mile. He had no ability to fly. He first flew in the original cartoons and on the radio. He didn’t fly in the comic books until 1941. Not only does he fly now, but he also has heat vision, X-Ray vision, increased healing, super speed, a force field, and arctic breath
